AI adoption is moving from experimentation into the operating life of
institutions.
Recent EDUCAUSE research
found that 94% of respondents had used AI tools for work within the preceding
six months, while only 54% were aware of institutional policies or guidelines
governing that use.
The same research found that institutions seeking to increase AI-related
workforce skills are relying primarily on upskilling and reskilling existing
faculty and staff. Yet much of that development still depends on employees
learning on their own.
The challenge is no longer simply gaining access to AI. It is building the
leadership, human capability, governance, and redesigned workflows required
to use it responsibly and effectively.
